Energy Management Support
Close management of energy usage and costs is becoming more important every year. Becoming more energy efficient and reducing energy costs has both financial rewards and the benefit of helping improve our environment. In addition, there are federal mandates for reduction of energy use and increasing reliance on energy from renewable resources and non-petroleum fuels. Johnston McLamb offers a number of solutions and services to help you achieve your energy management goals.
| How We Can Help |
We provide IT solutions and services that are designed to help you with management of energy usage and costs:
|
| Data Management |
Your ability to effectively manage energy usage and costs is only as good as the data you have available to you. And all too often, the data you need is inconsistent, missing, or scattered across disparate, siloed systems. Electric utility payments reside in one database, while data on fuel use is in another database and data on investments in energy-related infrastructure improvements is in a third. We can help you bring it all together to facilitate data analysis and reporting. Johnston McLamb has extensive experience and success with large scale data management and integration. For example, one of our customers has over 600,000 employees,
over 35,000 facilities, and a fleet of over 220,000 vehicles. |
| Mapping and Visual Business Intelligence |
Visual business intelligence gives users the ability to analyze multi-dimensional data through visualization. It transforms data into information, helping energy managers focus on what is most important now. Furthermore, a robust mapping application can show you where your energy "hot spots" are and statistical information such as average electricity and fuel costs by geographic area. If you are planning on expanding your fleet of alternative fuel vehicles, you could display locations of stations that sell each different type of alternative fuel.
Interactive filters allow you to choose what to display, based on any combination of characteristics you want. Custom icons can indicate object characteristics by their size, shape, and color. You can zoom in and out to see any level of geography, from the entire country all the way down to individual facilities and anything in between. View data by state, county, congressional district, census tract, or even your own custom areas such as districts and regions. You can even incorporate aerial and satellite imagery. But viewing information on a map is just part of the value. Location-based queries identify objects of importance by their proximity to each other or to other points of interest, such as major highways, universities, post offices, or maintenance companies. See how many employees or customers live within a certain radius of certain office buildings. Determine driving distances. | Energy Management Reports |
Johnston McLamb can create the business intelligence reporting that you need in order to effectively manage your energy usage and costs. Maybe you need to report on energy use in your buildings by type of energy (e.g., electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, etc.) and see trends over time. If you perform energy audits, report on the resulting conclusions, action items, and goals. If you make capital investments in improving energy efficiency, we can build reports that show your return on investment. If you operate a fleet of vehicles, you'll need reports of fuel usage by type of fuel (i.e., gasoline and alternative fuels). We can also help you estimate fuel usage for shipping by truck, rail, and air. You also might be required to file energy reports to the Department of Energy and the Office of Management and Budget. We can help there, too. Contact us for more information about how we can help meet your energy management challenges. |

We are successfully helping them track
all forms of energy use. We provide a road map that addresses key activities such as data stewardship, governance, standards and integration across the enterprise. We ensure the
integrity of data throughout the lifecycle of information within an organization, involving key stakeholders, establishing common standards for data, and resolving data errors and
discrepancies.
